Members of the Senior Leadership Team would like to welcome you to the Houghton Kepier Sports College website.

At HKSC, we are fortunate to have outstanding facilities, set in extensive private grounds. Young people here have everything they need to succeed and enjoy school life.  Our teaching and support staff work very hard to ensure our students are safe, happy and successful. We are committed to academic excellence, but we never forget that our young people are just that: people, not simply learners. We promote the talents of all, through a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. We know that every child is special, every child has potential.

I thought you might be interested to know that our Young Leaders group have raised a fantastic total of £628.48. for  Houghton Blind Society.
We are awaiting dates for the Celebration Event, which is expected take place at the Exchange Buildings in Sunderland. I understand from EBC staff that our learners have finished well ahead of other Schools in the competition.

Our Young Leaders are superb!

Year 9 learners have been working exceptionally hard and have produced some vibrant pieces of artwork.
Below is a picture of Rebecca Bilton together with her finished clay house.

The other clay artwork below has been created by Billy Harris.

We have started the year running and have already achieved outstanding Maths GCSE results.  Well done to all our learners!

Aim Higher' Event - Thursday, January 12, 2012

Library

Sunderland University came into school to work with Year 7, 8 and 9 learners on the exciting Destination YOUni workshops in January. The workshops were an introduction to university education - how you get there, the kind of people who you would meet, what you could study and what difference it could make to your life. Year 7 and 8 designed their own universities based on all the information they were given and everyone spent a lot of time discussing a 'typical student' and what they would be like. The workshops were a lot of fun and everyone learned a lot about university that has given them something to think  about for the future.
