The Sports College Minimize

Becoming a Specialist Sports College will result in the school receiving extra funding on an annual basis. Our sports facilities have undergone a massive makeover, with the creation of an entire new second sportshall, including a fitness suite, new sports-dedicated classrooms to add to our already large extent of competition-class playing fields for most major sports.
New appointments have been made to increase the school's staffing complement, including a Director of Sport/Assistant Headteacher and three Physical Education teachers. In addition, a number of AOTT's have been employed to assist with the delivery of Physical Education and School Sport within and beyond the curriculum, e.g. supporting the delivery of practical GCSE sessions and delivering extra-curricular opportunities (fencing club, trampolining club etc.).

All pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4 now receive two hours per week of Physical Education from specialist teachers. In Key Stage 4, all pupils are offered the opportunity to follow an accredited course of study: typically GCSE Physical Education or Short Course Physical Education, although other accreditations are also available within curricular time (Junior Sports Leader Award, Duke of Edinburgh Award, ASDAN Bronze Award etc.). New facilities (3 classrooms, Fitness Room, additional changing facilities etc.) that will further enhance the school's capacity to deliver a high quality curriculum have recently been completed and are now in use.
Opportunities available to students through our Sports College Status include :-
Access to state of the art computer technology
A wide range of sporting and other physical activities
Links with a range of local clubs
Extended extra curricular activities including possible options of working in local community events.
Access to visiting Coaches, catering for a wide range of sports.
